The Südsteirische Weinstraße runs along the border with Slovenia; traffic signs in the area read "Next 1,8km: national border left of the road." The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful with gentle hills draped with vineyards and crested with picturesque farm buildings. Visitors should take the time to sample the local white wines at a "Buschenschank," perhaps accompanied by some of the delicious local farm produce. To get there you will need your own car; follow the motorway A9 south and take the Vogau exit.
