Westwerk (West Work) is a gallery, a club, and a place for performances and events all-in-one. After being nearly destroyed in WWII, the building was abandoned for many years until a crew of young artists saw the site as a prime location to make their artistic visions a reality. Shortly after creating a non-profit organization, the surrounding community donated funds to keep the art space open. Today, Westwerk is a lively center with a rich history for Hamburg's art scene.
