There could hardly be a more romantic location for a bar. The Cliff is situated in a park on the banks of lake Alster. In the evenings, this is the place to go for Hamburg's young and professional, which unfortunately means that all the seats can quickly be taken. Not a surprise really, considering the scenery-rowers and sailing boats floating past, joggers, sun-worshippers, people out for a walk and all this framed in a beautiful sunset. The crowd seem very approachable and are out simply to enjoy themselves. This is a good place for the famous second date, but also for a night out in a group. A word of advice: the drinks don't come cheap!
