Bermuda's Heritage Month culminates in Bermuda Day on May 24, a celebration similar to the United States' Independence Day. The public holiday celebrates Bermuda's heritage and pride in its culture. Activities in downtown Hamilton include parades, boat and bike races, a marathon and non-stop activity in the bars and restaurants. The Bermuda Half-Day Marathon, part of the celebration, is open only to residents of Bermuda, however visitors are more than welcome to line the route to cheer and watch.
