The racing season, which begins in September and runs through March, inlcudes about 17 or 18 race meets. Organized by the Bermuda Horse and Pony Driving club, the races typcially take place on Sunday aftermoons at the National Equestrian Centre. Ponies are harnessed to sulkies, which are small, two-wheeled frames with an unsprung seat. The ponies race against each other around a one-fifth-mile track. Prizes are bales of hay and feed.
