WebsiteThe name tells of this theater's original purpose. In 1619 its partner, Ballhof, was built as a duke's ball court and festivity hall. Hanover's former theater, called Schaubühne, was completely destroyed by a fire during the Second World War. So afterwards, Hanover's state theater moved into the 400-seat Ballhof. This second little venue was a former rehearsal stage that now serves as an additional place for smaller performances.
