WebsiteAfter almost fifty years with only the small Ballhof stage, Hanover's state theater finally opened the Schauspielhaus (drama house) in 1992. It is a steel concrete building with a white aluminum façade, which not everybody really approved of when it was unveiled. But the inside is visually and functionally adequate, all 630 seats allow for a good view. The large stage allows for modern technical acts. The theater's program has an extraordinary number of contemporary plays. Since 1995 the theater has been organizing an event that only allows new dramas to be shown.
