As the only backpacker’s hostel in Kona, Koa Wood Hale (also known as Patey’s Place) is full of life and travelers. Located in a residential area three blocks from the ocean, it is just far away enough from the action to be quiet and relaxing, but close enough to be an easy walk to all the amenities and attractions. It is safe, the staff are friendly, and the prices are competitive. Choose from dorm accommodations or private rooms, ranging from $25-75/night. All have shared kitchens and washrooms and living spaces. Reservations recommended. - Nora Dunn
