Held in the historic town of Saijo in Higashi-Hiroshima, this festival is one of the most well known and attended events in the prefecture, largely because guests can sample some 700 types of Japanese rice wine (sake) from all over the country! A section of the town, known as "sake street" becomes a hive of activity with its old family breweries opened to the public. Outdoor stalls selling sumptuous local snacks line the street, and in the evening a colorful parade keeps visitors merry well into the night.
