The event begins at dawn, and is free to all who would like to pay their respects. National pride, gratitude and memories of all who fought and died during the war come to the fore at the vigil. A solemn march follows the service, and proceeds down the streets from the Town Hall to the Cenotaph. The day is named for those brave Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC), and is a big deal among the locals.
