WebsiteThe countdown to Christmas has begun once the Pageant hits the streets. Generations of Hobartians have fond recollections of the floats in the street parade, and children today can still get excited at the thought of seeing Santa. The streets of the central business district are closed off, and little ones are hoisted onto shoulders to gain a better view of the myriad of floats. Community organizations, schools and other bodies work hard to ensure that their float will look wonderful on the day. Brass bands and other musical interludes add to the festivities.
