WebsiteAnglesea Barracks was built by the colonial authorities in the early days of the Van Diemen's Land settlement and is still used today, making them the oldest continuously occupied military buildings in Australia. The museum forms part of the complex and documents early Tasmanian military history as well as involvement in subsequent conflicts from the Boer War to Vietnam. Militaria fascinates many people, but plan ahead if you intend to visit as the museum is only open one day each week. Guided tours of the museum and the barracks run at 11a on Tuesdays.
