The views over the city from this mountain are only rivalled by those from the more famous Mount Wellington, but as the higher mountain is often shrouded in mist or inaccessible in snowy conditions, a visit to this lookout can provide a dramatic panorama of the city even on days with relatively poor visibility. During the day a visitor can experience the beauty of the city, Derwent River and Hobart Waterfront and at night the city is studded with twinkling lights. Lunch or teas can be taken at the Mount Nelson Signal Station Restaurant.
