WebsiteJohn Lee Archer designed many of Hobart's beautiful buildings and this one dates to 1831. The National Trust is responsible for the care of the buildings and and run tours of the courts, cells, tunnels and gallows that were part of the daily life of many a Van Diemen's Land convict. In fact, the courts were in use until as recently as 20 years ago. The knowledgeable guides are full of grim tales of earlier times, and the for those who love a chill up the spine, the ghost tour is a must. Admission: Adults AUD7.70; concession AUD5.50; family AUD15.40.
