EmailTo the east of Hobart, the suburb of Taroona snakes around the coastline. Houses enjoy spectacular views of the mouth of the Derwent River and the passing sailing traffic from Antarctic icebreakers to ocean liners. The two main attractions of the area are Tudor Court Model Village and the Shot Tower which dominates the skyline to the southern end of the town. The beach is safe and some lovely walks can be enjoyed around the cliffs, although the Alum Track walk is currently closed as it is unsafe. The classic art deco style hotel serves substantial meals.
