Website | EmailMount Wellington is a spectacular backdrop to the city, with many wonderful views and lovely walks — some easy and others quite challenging. A fit and experienced walker can reach the summit from the city centre and return in one day. An easier walk is from the bus terminus at Fern Tree, a round trip of five to six hours but be prepared for changing weather conditions. The summit is often clouded and in all seasons it can snow. The road to the top is closed to cars in bad weather.
