With more than 5000 books plus antiques, linen and lace, Kookaburra is a browser's delight. Make a point of calling in as you stroll through Battery Point. The shop specialises in antiquarian books, and the owner has an eye for quality, so many a happy hour can be spent browsing the shelves. That hard to find title might just be waiting, whether you are after Tasmaniana or general works. There is a good selection of old health manuals with illustrations designed to bring a smile. On Saturdays the shop has a stall at Salamanca Market.
