Only a few years ago it would take a whole day to travel to this once rural area. Today, Shatin is a new town, easily reached by public transport. Shop-a-holics can head straight for the Shatin New Town Plaza, one of the biggest shopping malls in Hong Kong, which is directly connected to the railway station—how convenient! Shatin is also well known for its cultural heritage and horseracing activities. The Ten Thousand Buddha Temple, Che Kung Temple, Tsang Tai Uk and the Wong Uk Old House are some of the interesting historical sights that should not be missed.
