San Mateo's wine festival takes place on the last Saturday before Christmas every year. There's music, dancing, a barbecue and gallons of wine to enjoy at the local sports center. This tradition all started when some villagers got together to try each other's home produced wines and decide on the best. Nowadays, all the island's wine producers participate and over 1000 people turn up for the event. To get here, head for San Antonio on the Ibiza-San Antonio bus route and take a local bus from there to San Mateo.
