Iglesia de San Juan
One of the Few Churches with a Steeple
Plaza de la Iglesia
San Juan, Baleares 7810
Nearest Train: Bus: LĂnea Ibiza-San Juan
This church was built around a small chapel that already stood on the site. The building work, which finished in 1771, was carried out at a leisurely pace, since the original chapel was sufficient for carrying out all the religious duties and functions. The bell-tower's pointed steeple is unique on the island. The church's side walls are made of bare, unwhitewashed stone, which is evidence that the building was used as a fortress many centuries ago. There are no visiting times as such, but you can visit the church during mass, which is held on Sundays at 11a.
