Created by the damming of Jackson's Pearl River, this 50 square-mile expanse of water provides sailing, skiing, trophy-sized bass fishing and all manner of water sports to area residents and guests. Four marinas dot the shoreline, offering boat and motor rental, fishing and sailing supplies, and a host of quaint eateries. Camping and picnicking facilities are also to be found within the numerous parks and recreation areas that line the shores. This stunning man-made landmark can be found just east of Ridgeland, about a 15-minute trip outside of Jackson.
