Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day)
Reunification of Jerusalem
Various Venues
Jerusalem,
This day commemorates the 1967 reunification of Jerusalem following the Six Day War. In recent years, because of the growing controversy over Jerusalem's final status, the event has become increasingly politicized and is attended in droves by members of the Israeli right. There is a public march from the Kiryat Moshe area (near the central bus station), via Jaffa Street to the Western Wall in the Old City. Expect traffic congestion and many road closures as hordes of flag-bearing pedestrians take over the streets. There are usually free public concerts.
