This is a green and pleasant area in which to escape for the day. There are various attractions here to boot; most importantly, the Israel Museum and Israel's parliament, the Knesset, worth a visit simply for the spectacular tapestries and Mosaics by Chagall. The prestigious Israel Museum has a massive collection of works from ancient pottery to abstract art. Both of these are within walking distance of The Monastery of the Cross at the bottom of the hill.
