WebsiteThere aren't that many drive-in cinemas left in the world and certainly none in a more imposing situation - and with such a view. The Top Star is in the centre of Johannesburg, facing the CBD (easy access from the M2 Motorway) - on top of a HUGE mine dump - a man-made mountain and relic of the gold mines that created the city. The mine is long gone but the flat-topped mountain remains, ideal for watching Double Features from the comfort of your front (or back) seat. Films are mostly mainstream commercial and entrance is R30.00/car (at the gate or through Computicket) with plenty of finger-food available AND the added bonus of Jo'burg's magical night skyline as a backdrop. Also, sometimes used for raves.
