Website | EmailThe Johor Area Rehabilitation Organization (JARO) features handicrafts and artwork made by physically disabled inmates. Here, one can buy reasonably priced hand-made cane furniture, soft toys, rattan baskets and customized book-binds. Within the same compound next door, the Perbadanan Handicraft Center offers songket cloth, batik and pottery made in-house for sale. A state-sponsored venture, JARO has done much good for the less fortunate through its rehabilitative shelter and workshop program. For instance, Lee Tai Meng, a former deaf inmate, left JARO to become one of Malaysia's most accomplished batik artists.
