Kuala Lumpur was declared a city on February 1, 1974 and ever since, an annual event is held for the people of Kuala Lumpur to celebrate its foundation. This gazetted public holiday is usually centered on the scenic Taman Tasik Titiwangsa. The park becomes a hub of activity from as early as 7a, with such exciting events as fishing competitions, coloring contests and a blood donation campaign, the list goes on. Or head for the Kuala Lumpur City Hall where there are cultural performances and exhibitions as well as firework displays.
