Ramadhan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar when the Muslims observe their Fast. Jalan Raja Alang at Kampung Baru is transformed into an evening market known as the Ramadhan Bazaar with rows of makeshift stalls selling an assortment of food and meals of the Malay community. The road is closed to traffic from 3p to allow people to shop for their favorite foods. The Jamek Mosque, which is close to the vicinity, gives away the bubur lambuk, a special porridge as part of its yearly practice during this auspicious month.
