Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of the Sikh faith, was born in the month of Kartik, and his birthday is known as Guru Nanak Jayanti. He was born in 1469 at Tolevandi, some 30 miles from Lahore, and was the first guru of nine. The occasion is celebrated by the Sikhs throughout Malaysia with devotion and dedication. Devotees flock to Gurdwaras for this religious occasion. Visitors can view parts of celebrations at temples throughout the city.
