Eid al-Adha
'Feast of the Sacrifice'
Throughout the City
Kuwait,
An important Muslim festival, Eid al-Adha is the feast of sacrifice. This festival commemorates the event where Prophet Ibrahim was about to sacrifice his son in order to prove his obedience to God. But a voice from heaven stopped him right on time and he sacrificed a goat instead. This festival also known as Bakri-Eid takes place during the period of Hajj. Muslims all over the world celebrate this occasion by sacrificing animals like rams and cows and you may even catch sight of an age old sword dance. After preparing a delicious feast, a portion is given away to the poor. Visitors to Kuwait should note that there is an approximately four day holiday in the city during this period, so plan your activities accordingly.
