Kuwait City
Liberation Day
The Joy of Liberation
Throughout the City
Kuwait,
February 26th, 1991 was the day the badly bruised and beaten Kuwait was rescued by the American and other allied troops. After a long, hard invasion by Iraqi forces, Kuwait city was virtually looted and destroyed. This day marks a new beginning for the nation. Although this celebration is colored by the loss of those who died and the plight of the prisoners of war, it is a boisterous and victorious outpouring of emotion. Parades, parties, meetings and an overall increase in noise levels mark the celebration of this occasion.
