Marzouk Daoud el Badr Mosque

Built in 1922

Fahd el Salem Street
Kuwait, 13058

The Marzouk Daoud el Badr Mosque was built in 1922 by the original Marzouk Daoud el Badr himself. He was an affluent man, who had just built a home in the area. Some tent-dwelling Bedouin tribesmen, who had set up camp nearby, requested that he allocate an area of his land so that they could use it as a mosque. He donated the land, and went further by buillding the mosque from his own money. He completed it in 1922, and it was renovated in 1951. The renovations cost almost 130,000 rupees (Indian Rupees were the official money used on the State of Kuwait before the Kuwaiti Dinar was instated). The mosque is extremely simple and unassuming.
