This is a regular, modern mosque, which has such an original architectural design. This mosque is of pyramidal shape, but not a smooth pyramid. It consists of layers of mastabas that keep getting smaller, much like the 'step pyramid' of Ancient Egypt. The mosque is a popular place of worship during the weekly Friday Prayers. Islam in Kuwait is very much alive. On a Friday almost all the Muslim men in Kuwait attend the Friday Prayer in their neighbourhood mosque. This is known as 'the noonday prayer'. If you would like to see the men praying on their special mats, come by discretely on Friday at noon.
