The Al Fanar Cinema is your typical American style multiplex cinema within the prestigious and beautiful Al Fanar Shopping mall (actually, on its third floor). It consists of three screens and, usually, two of them offer American, blockbuster movies, while the third screen will show an Arab (or Egyptian) movie. All non-Arabic speaking films are, systematically, subtitled in Arabic, while Arabic movies may, sometimes, be subtitled in English, though this is rare. Do enquire beforehand about subtitles for each film. The Arabic movie has been monopolisesd by Egyptian production - since Cairo is 'the Hollywood' of the Arab world. Egyptian films lean towards comedy, and this humour is another pan-Arab phenomenon. Come and discover it at the Al Fanar Cinema.
