Otley has held a market as far back as the 13th-century and the market place is still the centre of the action in this quaint town. On market days there are approximately 100 open-air stalls with a variety of goods for sale, including food and household items. It's a lively affair especially on Sunday when the market is extended to include a car boot sale. Part of the car boot attraction has to be seeing the resurrected bric-a-brac that people once relegated to their garages and lofts.
