The Colares' wine has distinct characteristics, which make it one of the most appreciated wines in the world.
The Ramisco's House, a wine cellar in Colares, is one of the best known in the region, as it produces a wine with an excellent bouquet and with a low percentage of alcohol.
The vineyards have been well known in the area since 1154 and by the time of the Portuguese colonization, this wine was among the first exported products to India.
The Colares' Regional Wine Cellar was founded in 1931, to regulate the quality of the product.
