WebsiteThe ‘Seteais’ name is based on a local legend about a queen, that during one of her walks, found her loved one in that precise place; throwing herself into his arms, she released seven (sete) sighs (ais) of pleasure, that were eared throughout the entire village. This monument dates back from the late XVIII century, built by the Dutch Consul Daniel Gildmeester. Later, it was acquired by the Marquis of Marialva, who added a second front to the building, and connected the two with an arch. Today, the building is a hotel, but the gardens are opened to the general public.
