The beginning of the Sintra's railroad services in 1889 brought some changes to the urban layout of the village. A new district was built, the D. Estefânia, and the Paços do Concelho building was also built, between the old part of the village and the new quarter, where before, the S. Sebastião monastery was located. The present building has Neo-Manuelina windows, a tower with battlements and tile panel where the Cross of Christ, the Portuguese shield, and an armillary sphere are represented.
