Barcarena's Fábrica da Pólvora is, nowadays, a great cultural centre of the region. Here you can enjoy nature, see an art exhibit, get to know the old factory, eat at a sophisticated restaurant and/or drink a cup of tea. The factory operated from 1540 to 1940 and contributed much to the region's economic and social development.
