Fonte do Largo or Fountain of the Square, located in the 1º de Outubro Square, is situated inside a small garden with trees of the most varied species, and a few benches, which make this place an ideal spot for a short rest. The fountain is a large basin with statues representing lions' heads all around and on the base; the coat of arms of the village of Sintra, where you can easily see Sintra's national palace depicted, also decorates the fountain. Around the base is an illuminated water tank.
