The Capuchos' convent was built by D. Álvaro de Castro in 1560, thus fulfilling a vow made to his father, D. João de Castro. This monument is unique in Sintra, and you cannot say with certainty where it ends nor where nature begins. To reach the entrance, you must first pass through two large boulders. Built in a minimalist scale, there is only enough room for the essential things in the hermits' modest life.
