The circular construction is one of the most interesting aspects of this chapel, built in the XVI century.
The surrounding area is also of great importance to local archaeologists, because some Roman artefacts have been unearthed here.
Within this church there is a podium, suggesting that this place once housed a roman temple, dedicated to the Goddess Diana. A parallel can be seen between the former and the present Patron saint, "S. Mamede", the keeper of animals, which explains why animals could enter the Church until a short while ago.
