Entertainment
The city of Lisbon is a new point of reference in the European cultural scene. Many cultural and entertainment centres are appearing, making Lisbon an exciting and entertaining destination.Gardens & Museums F
or those who prefer a quiet and relaxing walk, there is nowhere better than Parque das Nações. The park's calm natural atmosphere allows respite from the city's activities. In the park, we recommend a ride in the cable car close to the river. For a high-energy night out in this area, try Casino Lisboa and Centro Vasco da Gama for fun and games aplenty.
On the other side of the city, you will find other places of interest such as the Centro Cultural de Belém, which displays exhibits of national and international artists and is the location of the Museu Colecção Berardo. Also close by is the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos. The surrounding gardens and areas are also worth a visit.
Concerts
Lisbon's nightlife is diverse. Every visitor to Lisbon should visit one of the many Casas de Fado. This unique musical genre is treasured by the Portuguese, and live performances are common in the districts of Bairro Alto, Alfama and Costa do Castelo. Also in Alfama is the Lux-Frágil, one of the best nightclubs in Lisbon.
Lisbon also hosts many national and international artists in formal concert. Concerts are normally held in Coliseu dos Recreios, the Pavilhão Atlântico in Parque das Nações, or the Centro Cultural de Belém. There is also a large rock festival, Super Bock Super Rock, which usually takes place in June or July in various venues around the city, gathering together some of the best bands in the rock and pop scene.
Another area with a thriving tradition of nightlife is the Docas. Found beside Tagus River, you will find nighclubs playing music from every part of the world, as well as bars, restaurants, open late hours, so you can take in the incredible atmosphere. Places like Dock's Club and the Blues Café offer visitors and locals alike unforgettable memories.
FestivalsIn the summer, especially in June, Lisbon throws parties in honour of its patron saint, S.António. Popular marches and parties take place all over the Portuguese capital and are truly unique events. The parties are the best in the older, traditional city districts.
Throughout the year, cultural and entertainment events happen all over the city, making Lisbon one of the most animated and happening European capitals.
