Website | EmailThe first Grand National was held in 1839 and today has grown to drawing more than 100,000 spectators and is considered the premier race in horse racing. Red Rum, the most famous winner, was the only horse to win the National three times: 1973, 1974 and 1977, and it is said that this record will likely never be beaten. A statue memorialising Red Rum is erected at the winning post at Aintree Racecourse for visitors to admire. While televised, watching the event from the stands is an experience not to be missed. Admission ranges from GBP10-GBP65.
