Website | EmailThe English National Opera (ENO) has its home at the beautiful Coliseum near Trafalgar Square. The operas performed are all in English...but you still won't be able to make out half the words. However, language aside, both the setting and the prices make the Coliseum more accessible than the Royal Opera House, though the latter is trying to reduce its prices. The stage sets tend to be minimalist, allowing you to focus on the voices rather than the surroundings. There is definitely a contemporary approach to both the traditional and more modern operas and if you're not too familiar with opera, an ENO production is probably a good place to start.
