The Next Wave Festival, held biennially since 1985 (The International Year of Youth) aims to promote Australia's future crop of film makers and artists of all types. There is an emphasis on such new media as computer graphics, 3-D modelling, animation and video. Another goal of Next Wave is to encourage young Australians to take an interest in the arts and culture.
