As the oldest-running arts event in Melbourne (established in 1952), the Film Festival has an outstanding reputation for putting on a showcase of Australian and international film making, including some 220 Australian-made films at the previous events. Hundreds of films are screened during a two-week program of short films, full feature films, documentaries, animation, and experimental films. Venues for the festival include Greater Union, the Australian Centre For The Moving Image, Kino, Forum Theatre and Capitol Theatre.
