This event is the world's biggest blue water swim and also holds a Guinness Book of Records entry for the most swimming participants to complete an open water race (3,071). Taking place every year at Victoria's seaside town of Lorne, participants literally swim the 1.2-kilometre course from the pier to the pub. Swimmers need stamina and ability to finish the race in the challenging open water conditions. When the race is over, it is party time in Lorne for the rest of the weekend.
