Although Guernica's fine Australian cuisine would not be out of place in the city centre, its Brunswick Street address attracts a far funkier crowd. Secluded behind dark wooden blinds, Guernica appears almost shy about its understated, Latin-influenced interiors. Inside, a print of the eponymous Picasso masterpiece has pride of place. The oysters, ox, salmon and duck that dominate the menu are wonderfully cooked, tastefully presented and professionally served. Try to leave some room for desserts such as chocolate and roasted almond torte (AUD12), or chocolate and amaretto truffles (AUD3 each). Fine food and wine that will not break the bank.
