For a taste of Somali hospitality, visit this friendly, family-run café. A simple quartet of main dishes is complemented by a changing specials menu, including Somali favorites such as Suqaar. Servings are generous. Main meals, such as Fish Steak Seasoned with Somali Spices, are served with spiced vegetables, salad and a choice of spaghetti or rice. The rice is deliciously fragrant, flavored with cinnamon, cardamom and other spices and dyed saffron, orange and crimson. Bulsho’s interior is bright and basic, with plastic-covered lace tablecloths and fabric flowers adorning the tables, but the food and service are warm and genuine. -Jo-Anne Woodward
