After many years as a Melbourne favourite, Monsoon still offers the best of contemporary Asian cuisine, superbly combining the flavours of Indian, Thai, Malaysian and Japanese cuisine. The long narrow dining room is contemporary and elegant, with maroon walls, an island bar, and well chosen small works of art. Start with Thai chicken parcels, marinated boneless chicken wrapped in pandan leaves or gado gado. The oriental hotpot, (available as a vegetarian or chicken dish), the curry of passion, laksa seafood hotpot are all excellent mains. But you really cannot go wrong, whatever you select.
